Chapter 3 - The Black FileEdward Holloway slammed his fist onto the table, causing the encrypted hard drives to rattle. "My son may have had a domestic dispute with your daughter! It's unfortunate, it's ugly, and our legal team is prepared to offer a very generous financial settlement for her medical care and an immediate, uncontested divorce! But you have no right to use federal assets to kidnap me!"

Arthur Vance let out a low, dry laugh from behind his monitor. "A domestic dispute? Edward, you really should teach your boy how to wipe a server before he starts beating his wife."
Vance hit a key on his terminal. The primary display wall flickered to life, showing a complex web of financial transactions, corporate shell entities, and high-definition aerial surveillance photographs.
"Fifteen years ago," Vance explained, pointing a stylus at the screen, "your company, Holloway Global Dynamics, was under investigation for treason. Marcus here spent eight months compiling the master dossier—the 'Black File.' When Marcus retired, he agreed to leave the file locked in an encrypted vault, provided your family maintained total compliance with national security directives and stayed away from his family."
Edward's eyes darted frantically between the screen and me. "I stayed away! I never touched your family! I didn't even know Richard was dating your daughter until six months before the wedding!"
"Your son knew," I said, leaning over the table until I was inches from Edward's face. "Richard met Lily at a charity event in Columbia. He didn't fall in love with her, Edward. He recognized my last name. He realized she was the daughter of the man who held the axe over your family's neck."
Edward froze.
"He married her to buy insurance," I continued, my voice dripping with cold disgust. "He thought if he held my daughter hostage, if he isolated her, broke her spirit, and kept her terrified, I would never dare open that file. He thought he was playing high-stakes geopolitical chess."
"He... he didn't tell me," Edward stammered, his bravado finally crumbling into terror. "I swear to God, Marcus, I had no idea why he insisted on marrying her! I thought he was just being rebellious!"
"It doesn't matter what you knew," Vance cut in, bringing up a new window on the main screen. "Because while Richard was busy using your corporate security to abuse Marcus's daughter, he was also using your company's secure communication arrays to continue the very same treason you started fifteen years ago."
The screen displayed a series of intercepted satellite transmissions, complete with cryptographic signatures and bank routing numbers originating from an offshore institution in Saint Kitts.
"Three weeks ago," Vance said, "Richard authorized the transfer of the primary source code for the US Navy's automated defense grid to an intelligence proxy operating out of Dubai. The payment—forty-two million dollars—was routed directly into a private discretionary trust held in Richard's name."
Edward gaped at the screen, his mouth opening and closing without sound. "No... no, Richard wouldn't... he's an idiot, but he's not a traitor!"
"He's both," I said. "And because he thought he had me neutralized through my daughter, he got sloppy. He used the family estate's primary server node to execute the transfer."
I looked back at Vance. "Is the Department of Justice ready?"
"The Attorney General signed the emergency indictments ten minutes ago," Vance replied, picking up a thick red folder from the briefcase. "RICO charges, espionage, human trafficking, tax evasion, and attempted murder. We aren't just arresting Richard, Marcus. We're seizing every asset bearing the Holloway name. The estate, the ships, the bank accounts, the political foundations—all of it is being frozen under the Espionage Act by midnight."
Edward Holloway fell back into his chair, breathing heavily, his hands clutching at his chest as if he were having a heart attack. "You're destroying my entire life... my family's legacy... over a personal vendetta!"
I looked down at the billionaire who had spent his life stepping on small people to build his tower.
"Your legacy was built on treason and sustained by cruelty, Edward," I said quietly. "Your son didn't just break my daughter's face today. He broke the dam."

I turned to Vance. "I want to be there when they take him."
Vance smiled—a cold, terrifying expression. "I've already ordered the tactical team to stage at the front gate. Let's go finish the audit."
