Chapter 6 - The Clean SlateBy midnight, the gala had concluded with a standing ovation that lasted nearly five minutes, followed by a flurry of venture capital propositions, partnership offers, and executive handshakes that solidified my position as an independent titan in the tech sector.

I stood on the private balcony of my hotel suite, looking out over the glittering expanse of downtown Boston. The cool autumn wind whipped my hair around my shoulders, carrying the faint, distant scent of the harbor.

My phone, resting on the small iron table beside me, buzzed one final time.

I picked it up. It was an automated notification from my legal team confirming that Donovan’s corporate accounts had been fully frozen, his personal assets attached for preliminary restitution, and the temporary restraining order preventing him or his family from coming within one thousand yards of my person or property had been officially filed and served.

I didn't feel anger. I didn't feel vindictive satisfaction.

I just felt light.

The dead weight of a fraudulent five-year relationship had been completely stripped away, leaving behind a wide-open horizon, an untouchable career, and a future that belonged entirely to me.

I dropped the phone back onto the table, took a deep, clear breath of the Boston night air, and smiled into the dark.
