Chapter 10 - The Ultimate Victory

The evening air was crisp as my chauffeured car pulled up outside my Tribeca loft building. Walking through the grand lobby and stepping into my private elevator, I felt a deep, profound sense of gratitude wash over me.

Everything I owned, everything I had built, and every inch of peace I enjoyed was entirely earned.

I unlocked the front door and stepped into the serene, beautifully lit foyer. The white oak floors gleamed under the recessed lighting, pristine and untouched by the chaos of the past.

I walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows, looking out at the glittering lights of the Manhattan skyline that stretched endlessly into the horizon. Down there, Vance was sitting in a sterile federal penitentiary cell, draped in an orange jumpsuit, reflecting on the day he tried to force a powerhouse entrepreneur to her knees and instead watched his entire world collapse into dust.

He had wanted a traditional wife to serve him. He had wanted to break my spirit so he could feel tall standing in my shadow. Instead, he had provided the final, necessary catalyst for me to realize that I didn't need a king to rule my castle.

I was the queen of my own domain.

I poured myself a glass of vintage Pinot Noir, walked out onto the balcony, and took a slow, appreciative sip of the evening breeze. The past was buried, the present was secure, and the future was entirely mine to conquer.

My phone buzzed gently on the glass table beside me. It was a text message from Julian, confirming our dinner reservation for Friday night at a private rooftop restaurant overlooking Central Park.

“Looking forward to it, Sloan,” the message read.

I smiled, locked my phone screen, and looked out at the twinkling stars above the city that never sleeps.

I had survived the fire, purged the rot, and emerged stronger, wiser, and more unstoppable than ever before. My world wasn't broken; it was finally, perfectly built.
