Chapter 5 - The Siege of Room 402The door slammed against the wall with enough force to splinter the wooden frame. Two masked men dressed in black tactical gear burst into the room, both brandishing silenced automatic pistols.

"Don't move!" the lead gunman barked, sweeping his weapon directly toward Alice.

Alice didn't panic. Her survival instincts—forged in a childhood running from the syndicate shadows—kicked in instantly. Instead of screaming, she grabbed the heavy metal IV pole, spun it around with full force, and smashed it directly across the lead gunman's face, shattering his nose beneath his mask and sending him crashing backward into the medical tray.

The second gunman raised his pistol, aiming squarely at Alice’s chest. "Bitch—"

Before he could pull the trigger, the door frame behind him exploded in a hail of gunfire.

Danny Falcone and three security operatives swarmed into the room from the hallway. Danny fired his sidearm twice, dropping the second intruder instantly before he hit the linoleum floor with a heavy thud.

Smoke filled the small ICU room, mixing with the harsh smell of gunpowder. Alarms blared across the entire fourth floor.

Danny rushed to the bedside, his gun raised, checking Stefano. "Boss! Are you alright?"

Stefano coughed, waving him away with a bloody hand, his eyes fixed entirely on Alice, who stood calmly beside the overturned medical tray, her breathing steady, her hands completely rock-solid.

"She’s fine," Stefano rasped, glaring at the bodies on the floor. "Get these pieces of trash out of my sight. And call Carmine. Tell him I want every warehouse Paulie owns in Boston burned to the ground before sunrise."

Danny looked at Alice, a mixture of profound respect and disbelief in his eyes. "Nurse... you just took down an armed operative with an IV pole."

"In emergency nursing," Alice said coolly, stepping over the fallen gunman to check Stefano's vital monitors, "you learn to improvise with whatever’s in the room."

Stefano let out a raspy, deep laugh that quickly turned into a cough. "My god, Alice. If you ever decide you're tired of nursing, my organization has an opening for a chief strategist. You'd make twice what I do."

"No thanks, Mr. Marquetti," Alice replied, adjusting the oxygen flow. "I prefer patients who don't invite hit squads into my workplace."
