Chapter 6 - The King and His QueenOne year later.

The grand ballroom of the Rocca estate was illuminated by golden chandeliers, filled with soft orchestral music, light, and laughter. Over two hundred guests filled the room—business partners, city officials, loyal associates, and friends—all dressed in elegant evening attire.

At the head table, elevated slightly above the floor on a wide, wooden dais, sat Gabriel and June Rocca.

June wore a breathtaking lace wedding gown that cascaded softly around her, her hair adorned with delicate white flowers. Beside her sat Gabriel, dressed in a sharp black tuxedo. His wheelchair was custom-designed, sleek, and elegant, matching his attire seamlessly—no longer a symbol of weakness, but an extension of his authority and strength.

Marco stood at the microphone near the main table, holding a glass of champagne aloft, his old face beaming with genuine joy.

"To the Boss," Marco called out, his voice echoing through the grand hall, "and to the woman who brought him back from the grave! To Mr. and Mrs. Rocca!"

"To Gabriel and June!" the crowd roared in unison, raising their glasses in a massive, cheerful toast.

Gabriel smiled, taking June’s hand beneath the table, intertwining his fingers with hers. He looked out over the crowd, seeing a world that he had taken back on his own terms.

"Are you happy, Mrs. Rocca?" Gabriel whispered in her ear, his thumb gently caressing the back of her hand.

June turned to him, her face radiant, leaning over to rest her head softly against his shoulder. "I'm the happiest woman in the world, Mr. Rocca."

"Good," Gabriel said smoothly. "Because I have one more surprise for our wedding dance."

June pulled back, looking at him with surprise. "A surprise? Gabriel, we agreed no big speeches..."

Gabriel didn't answer. He signaled to Marco and two of his personal guards, who stepped up to the head table carrying a sleek, specialized motorized standing harness hidden behind a velvet curtain.

The music shifted to a slow, beautiful waltz.

With the assistance of Marco and the specialized harness concealed beneath his tailored suit jacket, Gabriel activated the smooth electric lift. His legs, supported by hidden carbon braces, locked into position, and his massive torso rose smoothly, effortlessly, until he was standing fully upright, six-foot-two, right in front of his bride.

The entire ballroom fell into a stunned, breathless silence.

June stared up at him, her lips parted, tears immediately brimming in her eyes once more.

Gabriel extended his broad, strong hand to her, a brilliant, proud smile gracing his handsome face.

"May I have this dance, my queen?" Gabriel asked softly.

June placed her hand in his, stepping into his arms. Gabriel’s right arm wrapped securely around her waist, holding her close, while his left hand held hers high. The automated balance system of the harness, combined with his own immense core strength and months of relentless therapy, allowed him to sway gracefully to the rhythm of the music, gliding across the polished floor with his wife held tightly in his embrace.

The crowd erupted into thunderous applause, many of the hardened mobsters wiping tears from their eyes as they watched their leader standing tall once more.

As they swirled slowly beneath the warm golden lights of the chandelier, June looked up into Gabriel’s dark eyes, resting her forehead gently against his chin.

"You really are incredible," June whispered softly.

May you like

"I am nothing without you, June," Gabriel answered, kissing the crown of her head as they moved together as one. "She refused to stand by a paralyzed man... but you taught me how to fly."

They danced under the glittering lights, whole, unbroken, and endlessly in love, knowing that whatever storms lay ahead, their kingdom was built on a foundation that could never be shaken again.
