Chapter 2 - The Fall of Vance DynamicsSilas Vance sat in his glass-walled corner office on the forty-fourth floor, swirling a finger of twenty-year-old scotch. Below him, the twinkling lights of the city hummed with the steady pulse of commerce. He checked his luxury wristwatch. By now, Odalys should have forced Elena to sign the papers. The threat of losing access to her newborn child, backed by Dr. Alistair’s fabricated medical psychiatric evaluations, would have broken anyone.

The heavy mahogany door swung open without a knock.

Silas frowned, looking up with a sharp reprimand on his lips, but the words died in his throat. It wasn't Odalys. It wasn't his executive assistant.

Three corporate restructuring attorneys he had never seen before marched into the room, flanked by two federal marshals and a man wearing an immaculate charcoal suit who reeked of absolute, unyielding authority. The man dropped a thick stack of federal injunctions and corporate freeze orders directly onto Silas’s pristine glass desk.

"Mr. Silas Vance," the man said, his voice as cold as winter stone. "You are hereby served with a federal restraining order, an emergency asset-freezing injunction, and a corporate audit initiated by Kade Capital's true majority stakeholder."

Silas stood up so fast his leather chair crashed backward against the wall. "What is the meaning of this? I am Vance Dynamics! Kade Capital is my private shell company! Who the hell authorized this?"

"Marcus Osei," the man replied simply.

The name hit Silas like a physical blow. The scotch glass slipped from his fingers, shattering into a thousand amber shards across the imported wool rug. Marcus? The old grease-stained mechanic who lived in a modest brick home across town? The man who fixed transmissions for a living?

"That's impossible," Silas stammered, his face turning a sickly, ashen gray. "He's a nobody! A pauper!"

"He was whatever he needed to be to watch over his daughter," a cold voice echoed from the doorway.

Stepping out of the private executive elevator—the very elevator Silas reserved exclusively for himself—was a man in his late fifties with iron-gray hair, piercing, hawk-like eyes, and a tailored coat that cost more than a luxury sedan. Flanking him were four armed men whose tactical posture screamed lethal precision.

It was Marcus Osei. But the grease was gone. The stoop in his shoulders was an illusion. He looked every bit what he truly was: the apex predator of an international syndicate whose reach eclipsed governments and corporations alike.

"Silas," Marcus said softly, stepping into the room. He didn't raise his voice, yet the air in the massive office seemed to instantly drop ten degrees. "You built your empire on stolen ideas, and you tried to break my daughter to secure your loot. A grave mistake."

"You... you can't do this to me!" Silas lunged toward his desk, reaching for his panic button. "Security! Get security up here right now!"

Before Silas's finger could graze the brass button, one of Marcus’s guards moved with blinding speed. A heavy tactical boot slammed down onto the desk, pinning Silas's hand hard against the wood with a sickening crunch of fracturing bone.

May you like

Silas shrieked, collapsing to his knees in agony.

"Your security guards are currently being escorted out of the building by federal agents," Marcus said, walking slowly around the desk until he stood directly over the trembling CEO. "Your accounts are empty. Your stock options have been legally voided. As of two minutes ago, Vance Dynamics belongs entirely to Elena Osei. And you, Silas... you belong to me."
