Chapter 4 - The Boardroom TakeoverThe executive boardroom of Vance Dynamics had played host to countless corporate victories, hostile takeovers, and multi-million-dollar mergers over the years. But today, the atmosphere in the cavernous room was thick with a terrifying, suffocating silence.

At the head of the polished mahogany table sat Elena Osei.

Gone was the pale, exhausted woman in a hospital gown. I wore a sharp, tailored obsidian-black suit, my hair pulled back into a severe, elegant knot. Beside me stood my father, hands clasped behind his back, flanked by two armed guards.

Tied securely to a chair at the opposite end of the table was Silas Vance. His tailored designer suit was wrinkled and stained with sweat, his right hand wrapped in a thick, clumsy cast where his fingers had been fractured. Behind him stood Odalys Crane, pale, trembling, and stripped of every ounce of her arrogant composure.

"This is illegal!" Silas screamed, struggling against the heavy zip-ties biting into his wrists. "You can't do this! You're kidnapping me! I'll have the FBI—"

"The FBI is currently downstairs, Silas," I interrupted, my voice cutting through the room like a razor blade. "Reading through the financial disclosures of Kade Capital. They seem very interested in the millions you embezzled from the research and development fund I personally designed."

Silas choked on his words, his eyes darting frantically toward my father. "Marcus... please. We're family! We have a child together—"

"You have nothing," Marcus stated coldly. "You forfeited your right to be called a father the moment you sent your mistress to brutalize my pregnant daughter."

I stood up slowly from my chair, leaning forward and resting my knuckles on the cold wood of the table. "You thought I was weak, Silas. You thought because I built products while you took the credit, I would simply roll over when you tried to discard me. You underestimated my work, and you catastrophically underestimated my blood."

A legal dossier slid across the table, stopping right against Silas’s chest.

"Sign the paperwork," I commanded. "Full surrender of all corporate shares, total relinquishment of parental rights to my daughter, and an admission of corporate fraud."

"I won't sign it!" Silas hissed, spitting blood onto the pristine mahogany. "You'll never get away with this! If I go down, I'll drag you all—"

Before Silas could finish his threat, the heavy steel doors of the boardroom swung open. A fresh wave of federal agents walked in, holding a second, thicker folder stamped with federal indictments for money laundering, racketeering, and conspiracy to commit assault.

An agent stepped forward, placing a cold pair of steel handcuffs directly onto Silas’s wrists.

"Silas Vance, you are under arrest for federal financial crimes and conspiracy," the agent announced.

Silas stared at the silver cuffs in absolute horror, realizing for the first time that his money, his lawyers, and his empire couldn't save him. As the marshals hauled him out of the room, his desperate, pathetic cries echoed down the hallway until they faded into total silence.

Odalys slumped forward in her chair, weeping uncontrollably as the guards unceremoniously hauled her away to face her own reckoning.

The boardroom grew quiet once more. I looked down at the empty chair at the end of the table, feeling a profound, liberating weight lift from my shoulders. The empire was mine. My daughter was safe. And the shadows of my past were finally being swept away by the light.
