Chapter 6 - The Reign of Peace

Three years passed.
The criminal underworld across three countries had learned a new lesson about the name Alejandro. They learned that while his wrath was swift and absolute against those who crossed him, his loyalty to his inner circle was an impenetrable fortress. No rival syndicate ever dared test his boundaries again; the mere mention of his name evoked a hushed, reverent fear from Marseille to Bogota.
But inside the mansion on the hill, the atmosphere was entirely different. The dark, brooding shadows of the past had given way to warmth, light, and the unmistakable sound of life.
On a bright Saturday morning, the sprawling gardens were filled with laughter. Elena walked along the stone pathways, wearing a simple summer dress, her hand resting comfortably over her heart—free of pain, free of fear. Beside her walked Alejandro, his black leather jacket replaced by a soft linen shirt, carrying a small toddler on his shoulders. Their son, little Marco, was laughing hysterically, clutching handfuls of his father's dark hair as if it were the reins of a wild horse.
"Careful, Your Majesty," Elena teased, a bright, radiant smile lighting up her face as she reached up to steady the boy. "If you drop him, the syndicate will mutiny."
Alejandro laughed—a rich, genuine sound that few outsiders ever had the privilege of hearing. He caught her hand, pulling her close against his side, kissing the top of her head while keeping a steady grip on their son.
"The syndicate only answers to one empress now," Alejandro replied, looking down at her with a gaze entirely softened by devotion. "And she happens to be standing right here."

Inside the grand house, the past was nothing more than a distant memory—a storm that had passed, leaving the soil richer, the roots deeper, and the kingdom stronger than it had ever been. They had survived the betrayal of blood, the darkness of greed, and the weight of war. And as they walked together toward the sunlit terrace, the king and his queen knew that no matter what shadows tried to creep toward their doors, their sanctuary would stand untouched for eternity.
What did you think of the conclusion of Alejandro and Elena's story?
