Chapter 2 - The Arrival of the BrothersThe heavy oak doors of the Cole manor didn't just open—they swung back with explosive force as four men in dark tailored suits stepped into the grand foyer. Behind them, twenty armed tactical operatives in unmarked black gear quietly surrounded the perimeter of the ballroom, sealing off every exit.

The guests gasped, pulling back in panic.

Leading the entrance was Dominic Moretti. At six-foot-four, with cold slate-gray eyes and a sharp jawline, he moved with the lethal grace of a military commander. To his left was Luca, impeccably dressed, holding a leather briefcase and an open tablet. To his right were Matteo and Gabriel, their expressions carved from marble.

Nico, the youngest, stepped inside last, closing the heavy double doors behind them and locking them from the inside.

Dominic’s eyes swept the room, instantly bypassing the wealthy crowd and landing directly on me. He saw my blood-stained silk dress, the raw red marks on my wrists, and the pale shock in my face.

The room grew so quiet you could hear the hum of the air conditioning.

"Elena," Dominic said, his voice quiet, low, and terrifyingly calm. He walked straight past Adrian as if he were invisible, wrapping a massive, protective arm around my shoulders. "Who touched you?"

Before I could answer, Adrian tried to reclaim his dominant composure. He stepped forward, puffing out his chest, though his hands were visibly trembling.

"Listen to me, you thugs!" Adrian shouted, pointing an angry finger at Dominic. "You are breaking and entering on private property! I am Adrian Cole! My father sits on the governor's board! I will have the police here in five minutes!"

Luca Moretti opened his leather briefcase, adjusting his wire-rimmed glasses without looking up. "Actually, Mr. Cole, you won't. At 8:14 PM, all cellular towers within a two-mile radius of this estate were temporarily designated under a private security protocol. No outgoing calls are leaving this estate. Furthermore, the local police chief is currently on line two of my encrypted phone, resigning his post due to an sudden federal audit into his foreign bank accounts."

Adrian’s father, Richard Cole, stepped out from the crowd, his face flushed red with rage. "This is absurd! You can't intimidate us! We are Cole Enterprises! We build the infrastructure of this city!"

Gabriel Moretti took a single step forward, pulling a thin tablet from his coat. "Cole Enterprises currently holds sixty-two commercial contracts with the city. At 8:12 PM, my firm executed short positions on twenty-eight percent of your publicly traded stock. By the time the stock market opens at 9:00 AM tomorrow, Cole Enterprises will be insolvent."

Margaret Cole gasped, clutching her pearl necklace. "What are you talking about?! You can't do that!"

"We didn't just do it, Mrs. Cole," Gabriel said with a cold, terrifying smile. "We finished it three minutes ago."

Vanessa Hart, shrinking behind Adrian, tried to slip quietly toward the kitchen doors.

Nico didn't even look at her as he stepped casually into her path, blocking the exit. "Miss Hart. Daughter of Marcus Hart, CEO of Hart Logistics? Your father's shipping licenses in Rotterdam and Singapore were revoked ten minutes ago. Your family is officially bankrupt."

Vanessa collapsed against the wall, her face draining completely of color.

Adrian looked around the room in sheer horror. The powerful political allies and billionaire friends who had laughed at my humiliation just twenty minutes ago were now turning their backs on the Cole family, moving as far away from Adrian as possible to avoid being collateral damage.

Dominic looked down at me, his hand gently resting on my hair. "Elena, my sweet sister... did he strike you?"

I looked at Adrian. For four years, he had gaslit me, degraded me, and made me feel small. Tonight, he had tried to break me entirely to impress a room full of shallow predators.

"Thirty times, Dominic," I whispered, my voice echoing through the silent hall. "With his belt. Because I spilled wine on his mistress."

The air in the room seemed to drop ten degrees.

Dominic slowly turned his head to face Adrian. The look in his eyes wasn't anger—it was absolute, apocalyptic destruction.

"Matteo," Dominic said quietly. "Close the curtains."
