Chapter 7 - The Unseen StringsWhile the public victory over Cole Enterprises was complete, the true depth of my family's network was only beginning to reveal itself to me. For years, I had deliberately ignored how deep the Moretti influence went, choosing to live in blissful ignorance. But as the new CEO of Moretti Global, I was quickly discovering that my brothers had been silently protecting me every single day of my marriage.

Gabriel walked into my office late Tuesday evening, dropping a thick leather-bound binder onto my desk.

"What's this?" I asked, looking up from my laptop.

"That," Gabriel said, leaning against the edge of the desk, "is the full surveillance record of your life over the last four years."

I opened the binder. Inside were hundreds of detailed reports, timestamps, photos, and financial logs tracking every move Adrian had made since the day he met me.

"You... you knew?" I whispered, my eyes scanning a report dated two years ago detailing Adrian's first attempt to divert money from our joint account.

"We knew he was an arrogant, greedy weakling from day one, Elena," Gabriel explained gently. "Dominic wanted to break his legs the night he proposed to you. But you loved him. You wanted a normal life away from our business. So we swore an oath to stand back and let you live your life—until he physically crossed the line."

"Why didn't you stop him sooner?" I asked, a lump forming in my throat.

"Because you had to see him for who he truly was," Gabriel said softly. "If we had stepped in two years ago and destroyed his company, you would have hated us for ruining your marriage. You would have believed Adrian was the victim. We had to wait until his mask fell off completely so you could break free on your own terms."

I closed the binder, feeling a massive wave of gratitude washing over me. All those years when I thought I was alone in that massive, cold Cole estate, my brothers were standing in the shadows, waiting for my signal.

"Nico found something else today," Gabriel added, his tone shifting into a colder register.

"What is it?"

"It turns out Adrian wasn't the mastermind behind that stunt at your birthday party," Gabriel said, pulling a photograph from his jacket and sliding it across the glass desk.

The photograph showed an older, distinguished man with silver hair and a sharp tailored suit, sitting in a private dining club in Manhattan with Richard Cole.

"Who is he?" I asked, staring at the familiar face.

"Julian Vance," Gabriel answered. "CEO of Vance Capital—the largest venture firm on the East Coast. He’s the one who secretly financed Adrian's offshore accounts. He pushed Adrian to humiliate you publicly so you would sign over your family trust rights under distress."

I looked up, my eyes narrowing. "Julian Vance wanted the Moretti family assets?"

"He thought we were retired," Gabriel smiled, a dark, dangerous spark igniting in his eyes. "He thought the Moretti family died with our father. He convinced the Coles that you were powerless so he could quietly sweep up your inheritance."

I looked down at the photograph of Julian Vance, feeling a cold, calm fire rising in my chest.

"Gather the brothers," I said, setting the photo down. "It’s time to pay Mr. Vance a visit."
