Chapter 8 - The Shadow ArchitectJulian Vance’s private penthouse suite on Wall Street was the pinnacle of Manhattan luxury. High above the noise of the financial district, Vance sat in a plush leather armchair, sipping twenty-year-old scotch while reviewing his firm's investment portfolio.

Suddenly, the private elevator doors chimed and slid open.

Vance frowned, setting his glass down. "Who authorized—"

He froze.

Stepping out of the elevator was not his personal security detail, but five tall men in dark suits, followed by a stunning woman in an immaculate ivory trench coat.

Me.

Dominic, Luca, Matteo, Gabriel, and Nico walked into the room with practiced, effortless authority. Nico quietly turned the lock on the private elevator panel, disabling it entirely.

Vance stood up slowly, trying to maintain his aristocratic composure, though his eyes betrayed his rising alarm. "Elena Moretti. I heard you took over Cole Enterprises."

"It's Moretti Global now, Julian," I said, walking slowly toward his floor-to-ceiling windows, taking in the view of the city. "Lovely view you have here. It would be a shame to lose it."

Vance forced a polite, patronizing laugh. "Miss Moretti, I am not Richard Cole. I am not an arrogant child like Adrian. My firm manages fifty billion dollars in international assets. You cannot intimidate me with brute force."

Luca pulled a thin silver flash drive from his pocket and set it gently on Vance's desk.

"That flash drive contains sixteen years of encrypted records detailing your illegal short-selling schemes, insider trading with foreign ministers, and private funding of human trafficking cartels in Eastern Europe," Luca said calmly.

Vance’s face hardened. "That's fabrication! No court would accept that!"

"We aren't taking this to court, Julian," Dominic said, stepping forward, his massive frame towering over the older man. "Courts are for people who follow the law. We are here to settle a personal debt."

Vance backed away slightly, his hands gripping the edge of his mahogany desk. "What do you want?"

"You instructed Adrian Cole to break my sister," I said, turning to face him, my voice colder than the winter wind outside. "You told him that the Moretti family was dead. You thought you could use a pathetic weakling to steal my legacy."

"It was just business!" Vance stammered, panic finally cracking through his cold exterior. "The Coles were deep in debt to me! I needed leverage over your family's shipping routes!"

"Well, now you have our full attention," Matteo said, taking a step closer.

Gabriel pulled up a holographic tablet, tapping the screen twice. "At 2:00 PM today, Moretti Capital initiated a hostile takeover of Vance Capital's primary offshore liquidity clearinghouse. By 4:00 PM, your board of directors voted unanimously to remove you as Chairman."

Vance’s eyes widened in sheer disbelief. "No... no, that's impossible! My board is loyal to me!"

"Everyone has a price, Julian," Nico added with a faint smile. "And we paid yours thirty minutes ago."

Vance collapsed back into his leather armchair, staring at us as if we were demons raised from the earth. He had spent forty years building a global financial empire, believing he was untouchable, only to watch it crumble in less than five minutes at the hands of the family he had tried to exploit.

I walked over to his desk, picked up his glass of expensive scotch, and poured it slowly onto his expensive Persian rug.

"Consider your debt paid, Julian," I said softly, setting the empty crystal glass back down. "Leave the country by midnight. If you ever set foot in New York again, my brothers won't send an attorney."

Without another word, I turned and walked back toward the elevator, flanked by my brothers.
